Poets Modern Cocktails & Eats
About This Spot
Stepping into Poets Modern Cocktails & Eats feels like slipping into a thoughtful gathering place where the rhythm of Baltimore’s downtown gently hums along with soft lighting and the subtle clink of glassware. It’s a modern gastropub that balances a relaxed, welcoming vibe with an attentive, human touch—neither hurried nor overly polished, but crafted to make you feel both comfortable and intrigued by what’s coming next.
The atmosphere invites a diverse crowd: those winding down after work, locals catching up over a late lunch, or travelers seeking a genuine sense of place just steps from the city’s pulse. There’s a calm yet lively undercurrent here, where casual conversations blend with the occasional notes of live jazz, especially on quiet Thursday evenings, making it the kind of spot that encourages lingering over a well-mixed cocktail or savoring a thoughtfully prepared plate.
On the menu, you’ll find familiar American favorites with an artful twist that reflects local flavors and seasonal influences. The food doesn’t shout for attention—it invites discovery, like a dish where the sweetness of crab meets the hearty comfort of a Benedict, or a wrap that surprises with unexpected depth. Paired with a carefully curated wine list and local craft beers, the drinks complement rather than compete with the food, each sip enhancing the relaxed confidence of the experience.
Service here feels genuine and grounded, guided by staff who seem as invested in your visit as you are. Their recommendations often come from a place of experience and warmth rather than salesmanship, creating a sense of connection in a setting where hospitality is simple but sincere.
Whether you’re stopping by for a savory breakfast, settling in for a vibrant dinner, or enjoying a nightcap with friends, Poets provides a space to appreciate both the little moments and the rich flavors that define Baltimore’s culinary spirit in a fresh, modern way.

Jeff was our oh so professional and kind waiter. He had a great and pleasant personality. Super down to earth and excellent in service with our order. He knew the menu and what was available for us to enjoy. Jeff is top notch and so was the front desk staff that suggested we come back for live jazz on Thursday evenings. The food was tasty. The crab cake could have been a bit better but overall everything was delicious. The cheese cake was a special treat we enjoyed. Thanks Jeff, Indigo hotel staff and Poets Modern Cocktails & Eats. We had an enjoyable evening

I stayed at Hotel Indigo for a conference and decided to try Poets for dinner. I was honestly pleasantly surprised because hotel restaurants can be a gamble, but this one did not disappoint . I ordered the Indigo Burger and it was delicious. Juicy, flavorful, and exactly what I needed after a long day. The waitress was amazing. Super nice, very attentive, and patient with all our questions. She even gave us great recommendations, which is always a good sign. The service alone had me impressed. I liked it so much that I came back a couple days later for breakfast. I ordered a simple plate with eggs, bacon, and potatoes, and let me tell you… those potatoes were everything . They had that perfect little crunch on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned like someone’s auntie was in the back pouring love into the skillet. They were so good I even recommended them to another potato lover. Overall, Poets definitely exceeded my expectations. Great service, great food, and now I’m slightly obsessed with their potatoes .

Crab Cake is very much sure menu , really tasteful 100% packed crab-ball. Both pasta also a must. I forgot to take Crab-dip, but also a must starter. Hotel restaurant provides fantastic service.

I stopped in for a quick breakfast and to my delight this crab Benedict did not disappoint! As you can see lump crab was plentiful & the flavor brought it home! I paid only $20 for this yummy goodness. You definitely need to go get you some. I recommend highly!

We ate breakfast and dinner here while staying at the hotel. The food and drinks are fantastic. The crab cake sliders were delicious. I recommend checking this spot out.

We had hot chocolates, seafood eggs Benedict, the house breakfast, avocado toast and banana toast. The food was good! I especially liked the banana toast. The taste of the hot chocolate seemed more like milk had been warmed and chocolate syrup added (better than powdered hot chocolate). Service was a little slow but maybe they were not used to the large crowd Army Navy game brought in.
